  • Martin is the manager of the Mechanical Engineering department at DB ESG -a UK based rolling stock consultancy and fully own subsidiary of DB Systemtechnik. He has worked in Rail for his entire career, graduating from the University of Southampton in 2001 and joining AtkinsRéalis. Some highlights of his career involved commissioning a 300kph high speed track geometry measurement systems on SNCF’s TGV measurement train, advising Hyundai Rotem in Korea on remote condition monitoring, and deploying a wheel profile monitoring system to Sydney Trains in Australia.

     

    Martin created DB ESG’s Additive Manufacturing workstream in 2018 and in 2019, working in collaboration with Angel Trains, fitted the first printed parts onto a UK train. DB ESG’s additive manufacturing workstream has grown in strength since then and now has its own team within Martin’s mechanical engineering department.

     

    Martin is the chair of mga’s RAILiability working group where railway operators across Europe share best practice in applying additive manufacturing into rail.
